Who we are

So, what makes Rickerson Legal different than other firms? Sheena Rickerson is a prior prosecutor who served for 6 years from the Third Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office who has extensive jury trial litigation experience in criminal law and was a family law and criminal law paralegal for 10 years before she went to law school. Sheena has been litigating family law cases the last 2 ½ years since being in private practice. Litigation experience MATTERS. Picking an attorney who is ready to fight for you and has the reputation and experience of a litigator is HUGE in affecting the outcome in your case.

Sheena provides zealous, committed, aggressive, professional, dedicated, and compassionate representation to her clients. She has extensive litigation experience which when combined with her evidentiary experience and court room skills makes her a force to be reckoned with as an advocate for her clients. If you place your trust in Sheena and give her the authority to handle the case how she sees fit, you will not be disappointed. An experienced litigator should be a top priority for every client when choosing the right attorney to represent you to obtain the result you seek.

Sheena is down to earth and treats her clients with respect, dignity, and compassion throughout the entire process of their cases.

Sheena believes the most important thing is for every client is to be informed and to understand the reason for the strategical decisions and legal advice being given. It goes beyond just answering questions. It is providing each and every client with a focused strategy and plan to minimize the risk and disruption of their everyday life. Regardless of what some may say, there is no one-size-fits-all, cookie cutter approach to a case. Each case is different. Each client is different. Each set of facts is different. What works for one client may not work for another. Each case has different issues, variables and influences.

In criminal cases, these things affect what the State is seeking as punishment. Political pressure, demands and expectations of victims, current status of the case law and statutes, and cooperation with law enforcement are just a few of the many factors that can influence the outcome of a case. As former a prosecutor, Sheena H. Rickerson is aware of these factors. She has handled virtually every type of case imaginable; including capital felonies, fraud, DUI manslaughter, home invasion robbery, crimes against law enforcement officers, drug trafficking, crimes against children, and many more.

In family cases, these things affect the outcome of the ruling you will obtain from the Judge regarding your children, your family, your assets, your debts, and your financial future. Finding a family law attorney with experience in the family law litigation arena is crucial. This experience should include good working relationships with other family law practitioners, handling past specific situations involving time sharing, custody, dealing with experts regarding these complex family matters, being well versed in the family law discovery rules to handle complex financial litigation, conducting numerous family law hearings litigated before the Court and local Judges as well as extensive experience in settlement, drafting, and execution of settlement agreements and parenting plans. When you hire Sheena, you can feel confident she brings to the table the skills you need in your family law attorney.

Sheena Rickerson worked as a law clerk and family law paralegal from high school all the way through law school. During this time, she worked for many solo practitioners and boutique firms who handled family law, criminal law, workers compensation, social security disability, personal injury and insurance defense. As a family law paralegal, Sheena specialized in Divorce Power Analyzer software to assist clients with child support and alimony calculations as well as financial discovery. Prior to becoming a prosecutor, Sheena was an intern with the Eighth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office working in the Macclenny branch during her third year of law school where she assisted felony prosecutors with trying cases. After law school, she accepted a position as a prosecutor and has served in that role ever since. During those 6 years as a prosecutor, Sheena tried 40+ jury trials with an outstanding success rate. Sheena has even helped to create case law in regard to “Stand Your Ground” and self-defense cases. With her experience in both family and criminal law, she is truly an asset to her clients.

She knows how to navigate the pitfalls of each type of case in criminal law and family law. Sheena knows how to manage expectations. She will keep you fully informed of each and every potential outcome so you can make the decision that is best for YOU. Remember, this is YOUR case! It is YOUR life!

I needed some help with my DUI case and They were amazing! I felt like all hope was lost and that I had no where to turn, but they started by calming me by explaining my rights in detail. Mrs. Rickerson let’s you know upfront that she will fight for you! It was like having a legal bodyguard! I couldn’t put a dollar amount on peace of mind I received after just my consultation. If you ever find your back up against the wall and feel like you have no where to turn I would highly recommend the attorneys at Carmichael and Rickerson!
